WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team moved to 4-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by splitting a league doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Waynesburg University. Waynesburg (16-6, 4-2) scored three unearned runs in the opener to secure a 3-1 victory. However, Grove City (12-3 overall) rebounded for a 7-0 victory in Game Two.
Sophomore pitcher
Alivia Lantzy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) fired a four-hit shutout in the second game to help lead the Wolverines. The right-hander allowed only four singles while walking three in seven innings.
Lantzy also doubled and singled in Game Two to help lead the Wolverines' 10-hit attack. Junior left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) cracked a team-high three hits, including a triple. Sophomore catcher
Sydney Shay (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) doubled while junior DP
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) finished 2 for 4.
Grove City broke a scoreless tie by scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Montone and freshman third baseman
Emma Vok (Wintersville, Ohio/Indian Creek) scored on an error while Meadors' two-run single brought home Lantzy and senior center fielder

The Wolverines cemented the win with three additional runs in the top of the sixth. Montone singled in sophomore pinch runner
Sydney McBride (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) to give Grove City a 5-0 lead. Freshman second baseman
Zoey Lindner (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored the second run of the inning by coming home on a double steal. Anthony's subsequent single to left scored Montone.

Cora Myers (Blanchard, Pa./Central Mountain) accounted for the Wolverines' run in the opener by belting a solo home run. Waynesburg scored an unearned run in the third inning, then extended the lead with two more runs in the sixth inning.
Meadors threw a complete game, allowing seven hits in six innings. She struck out two and walked one.Â
Shay doubled and singled while senior catcher
Kristin Tesch (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) went 2 for 3. Each team had seven hits in Game One.
Grove City begins a six-game homestand Tuesday by hosting Allegheny in a conference doubleheader at 3 p.m.
