GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College freshman
Emily Burling (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) earned medalist honors in her Grove City debut Thursday afternoon as the College women's golf team placed third at its annual Spring Invitational, held at Grove City Country Club.
Burling shot a 78 to post a three-stroke margin of victory over runner-up Alyssa Rapp of Westminster. Burling helped the Wolverines finish the event with a team score of 356. Westminster won the team title with a 335 while Division II Seton Hill recorded a 344.
Junior
Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) joined Burling in the top five as she placed fifth individually with an 84.
Senior Hailey Muñoz (Sparta, N.J./Morris Catholic) earned 21st overall by shooting a 96. Senior
Rebekah Gaehring (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) earned 26th with a 98 while sophomore
Gabrielle Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) finished 28th after posting a 99.
Four Grove City players competed as individuals. Sophomore
Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) took 35th with a 101 while freshman
Mackenzie Boley (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) finished 37th with a 102. Junior
Madylin Galbreath (Ellwood City, Pa./Ellwood City) finished 50th with a 123 while sophomore
Alyssa Shaw (Carlisle, Pa./West Shore Christian) took 54th with a 145.
Thursday's tournament featured a field of 55 women.
Grove City will compete this weekend at Penn State Altoona's Pennsylvania Classic in State College.
