NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Grove City College men's lacrosse team opened a two-game Spring Break trip to Virginia by dropping a 10-7 non-conference decision Saturday afternoon to third-ranked Christopher Newport (7-0) at Jennings Stadium.

Ethan Binns (Saint Johns, Fla./The Bolles School) and senior attack
Rigdon Greene (Marietta, Ga./Pope) helped Grove City cut the Captains' lead to 10-7 with five minutes left in the game.
However, Christopher Newport blanked Grove City (2-3) over the remainder of the fourth quarter.Â
Binns scored three times for the Wolverines while Greene had two goals and two assists. McClain also scored twice. Senior defender
Andrew Glasgow (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and junior midfielder
Breck Peacock (Wayne, Ill./Wheaton Academy) also tallied assists.Â

Tyler Gladstone (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led Grove City with five ground balls. He also made a career-high 21 saves.Â
Christopher Newport outshot the Wolverines, 55-31, including a 31-19 edge in shots on goal. Grove City had 17 turnovers while Christopher Newport turned over the ball 11 times.Â
Christopher Newport led 3-0 after one quarter, then pushed the lead to 8-2 by halftime.
The Wolverines will visit Roanoke at 1 p.m. Tuesday in non-conference action.
