GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Presidents' Athletic Conference honored two Grove City College fall sports athletes Monday afternoon in recognition of their respective performances last week.
Freshman goalie
Keller Krieger (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence) captured Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer. In women's tennis, the conference honored freshman
Grace Yurko (Reisterstown, Md./St. Paul's) as Newcomer of the Week.
Krieger made five saves Friday night in Grove City's 2-0 win at 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifier Hope. Krieger owns a 3-1-1 record this year, along with a 0.41 goals-against average. He has an .889 save percentage in his five starts.
Krieger ranks second in the conference in GAA and save percentage.
Yurko went 4-0 at second singles last week as Grove City (4-1, 4-0) went 4-0 in conference action. She dropped only nine games in her four straight-set singles wins. Yurko also went 3-0 at second doubles as she and senior
Peyton Joines (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) dropped only two games in the three wins.
The men's soccer team (3-2-1, 0-0) will open conference play Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Bethany. The women's tennis squad hosts Franciscan at 4 p.m. Wednesday in a conference match at Walters-Zbell Courts.
