PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team concluded the 2025 season Saturday afternoon by dropping a 15-5 decision to John Carroll in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, hosting by St. John Fisher University at Growney Stadium.

Grove City (12-7) grabbed a 1-0 lead 58 seconds into the game as sophomore midfielder Jess Robinette (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley) scored an unassisted goal. However, John Carroll (16-2) scored eight straight goals to take an 8-1 lead after the first quarter. 

Robinette and sophomore attack Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) both scored twice while sophomore attack Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) chalked up a goal and an assist.

Junior attack Jackie Rowell (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) and sophomore midfielder Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) both recorded assists. 

Senior midfielder Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led Grove City by picking up five ground balls. Shilling and junior defender Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) both collected four ground balls. Roetering, Hasley and senior defender Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) all caused two turnovers. 

Wartman won five draw controls while Shilling had four draw controls. 

John Carroll outshot the Wolverines, 27-16, including a 20-9 edge in shots on goal. Senior goalie Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) made four saves in 45 minutes of action. Junior Mia Gallagher (Mogadore, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) stopped two of three shots faced in the fourth quarter. 

Grove City had 26 turnovers while John Carroll committed 22 turnovers. 

The teams met during the regular season February 22 indoors at the University of Akron, with John Carroll winning 16-9. John Carroll advances to Sunday afternoon's second round and will play host St. John Fisher (18-0). 

This marked Grove City's second straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Wolverines won their second consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference title this spring. 

The Wolverines will lose Kiggins, Roetering, Wartman, defender Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana), defender Sarah Jackson (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield), midfielder Maddie Krabitz (Catonsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) and attack Anna Korzeniewski (Boyds, Md./Clarksburg) to graduation.
