Grove City 5-0 in conference

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team improved to 5-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by securing a 10-7 win Wednesday evening over visiting Chatham at Don Lyle Field. Grove City (6-5) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed in the win.

Sophomore attack Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) helped lead Grove City's offensive attack by scoring four goals and adding three assists. Senior midfielder Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) and sophomore attack Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) both scored twice while sophomore midfielders Jess Robinette (Mohnton, Pa./Twin Valley) and Tori Stevenson (Butler, Pa./Butler) added a goal and an assist.

Grove City scored three times in the first four minutes of the game. Stevenson's power play goal 62 seconds into the game opened the scoring. Blythe assisted Stevenson's goal. Roetering, Shilling and Robinette all followed with unassisted goals. 

Grove City led 4-1 after one quarter. Roetering assisted two Blythe goals in the second quarter as the Wolverines held a 6-3 halftime lead. 

Robinette, senior goalie Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) and junior defender Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) all collected four ground balls. Roetering added three ground balls. 

Roetering led Grove City with six caused turnovers. Senior defender Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) caused four turnovers. Chatham finished with 22 turnovers while Grove City had 19 turnovers. 

Grove City out-shot Chatham, 27-20, including a 19-13 margin in shots on goal. Kiggins stopped six shots. 

The Wolverines will visit Geneva at 3:30 p.m. Friday in conference play.
