GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team captured its 20th win of the season Saturday as the Wolverines split a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader with visiting Bethany at College Field.
Grove City (20-7, 11-3) dropped Game One, 4-1, but rebounded for a 12-10 win in the nightcap. The win keeps Grove City atop the conference.
Sophomore left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) paced Grove City's 15-hit attack in the nightcap by going 4 for 5 with a double and four runs batted in. Sophomore DP
Emma Covert (Chicora, Pa./Moniteau) went 3 for 4 while junior pitcher
Kyla Campbell (Altoona, Pa./Glendale) doubled and singled.
Junior catcher

Brooke Brodie (Mogadore, Ohio/Mogadore) doubled. Senior shortstop
Rachel Zona (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) scored three times.
Grove City trailed 3-2 in the fourth inning but surged ahead with a six-run outburst. Campbell doubled home Zona to tie the game. Montone's two-run double scored Campbell and sophomore pinch runner
Abby Stouffer (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim).
Montone and senior second baseman
Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana) both scored when junior center fielder
Noel Anthony (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) singled to left. Covert capped the rally by singling in freshman third baseman
Sydney Shay (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg).
Bethany pulled to within 10-8 in the sixth inning but Montone roped a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth that scored Covert and Zona.
Campbell (8-1) earned the win by pitching 5 2/3 innings. She yielded eight runs. Brodie recorded the final four outs for her second save of the season. Brodie allowed two runs.
Linhart and Montone both doubled in Game One while sophomore pitcher
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) went 2 for 3. Linhart's third-inning double scored Zona, halving Bethany's lead to 2-1. The Bison sewed up the win with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning, however.
Meadors threw a complete game but took the defeat. She struck out six and walked one in seven innings.
Grove City has the open date in the conference schedule during the first half of the upcoming week. The Wolverines will visit Baldwin Wallace at 3 p.m. Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.
