MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team moved to 7-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by securing a doubleheader split Tuesday afternoon at Allegheny. Allegheny (11-11, 4-4 PAC) pulled out a 10-9 Game One victory in eight innings. Grove City (16-5) rebounded for a 9-1 victory in the nightcap. Game Two went only six innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
Grove City trailed 1-0 after three innings in the nightcap before surging ahead with back-to-back four-run innings. Senior first baseman
Brooke Brodie (Mogadore, Ohio/Mogadore) tied the game by doubling in senior second baseman
Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana). Brodie later scored the go-ahead run on an error.
The lead swelled to 4-1 when junior catcher

Noel Anthony (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) and sophomore pinch runner
Abby Stouffer (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim).
Brodie also helped ignite Grove City's four-run outburst in the fifth inning as her single drove in sophomore left fielder
Evelyn Montone (Allentown, Pa./Parkland). Linhart scored on a single by sophomore DP
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Ohio/Coventry) while Brodie came home when freshman third baseman
Sydney Shay (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) grounded out.
Anthony's single to right field scored Jackson with the Wolverines' eighth run. In the sixth inning, Montone singled home freshman pinch runner
Elena Tylka (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township).
Brodie and Linhart both finished 2 for 4.
Junior pitcher
Kyla Campbell (Altoona, Pa./Glendale) threw a five-hitter to earn the win. She did not walk a batter in her six innings.

Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) scored on an error while senior right fielder
Annika Rinehart (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) later scored on Montone's sacrifice fly.
Jackson gave Grove City an 8-7 lead when she doubled in Brodie and Linhart. Campbell then doubled in Jackson.
Allegheny tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Grove City had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the eighth but stranded both. The Gators then pushed home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a single and two errors.
