Top seed clinched

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The road to the Presidents' Athletic Conference men's soccer title will go through Grove City.

Wednesday night, the Grove City College men's soccer team secured the top seed in the season-ending conference tournament by picking up a 4-0 home win over Saint Vincent at Don Lyle Field. Grove City's win, coupled with Franciscan's 2-1 loss to Allegheny, gives the Wolverines the top spot in the six-team tournament. Grove City (8-0-1 PAC) currently has 25 points while Franciscan (6-2-1) has 19 points with two matches remaining. Grove City owns the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Barons, having picked up a 4-2 home win October 15.

Grove City (11-2-2 overall) scored four times in the final 28 minutes after a scoreless first half. Sophomore midfielder Luke Ladas (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills) opened the scoring by recording the game-winning goal at 62:25. Junior midfielder Noah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) assisted Ladas's tally, his fifth goal of the year.

The lead swelled to 2-0 less than two minutes later as senior midfielder Aidan Eck (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) headed in a cross from senior defender Luke Kimmich (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) at the 64:16 mark.

Freshman midfielder Judah Gray (Glen Mills, Pa./The Christian Academy) pushed the lead to 3-0 when he scored his first collegiate goal at 75:23.

Judah Gray later assisted the Wolverines' final goal at 89:44 as senior forward Jaden Claycamp (Aurora, Colo./Valor Christian) recorded his first score of the season.

Grove City outshot Saint Vincent, 20-4, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. The Wolverines also had nine corner kicks while Saint Vincent (9-3-4, 4-2-3) had three corners.

Freshman goalkeeper Keller Krieger (Jacksonville, Fla./Providence) secured Grove City's seventh shutout of the season by making two saves.

Noah Gray leads Grove City with six assists. He also has a conference-leading 13 goals and a conference-best 32 points. His 32 points are the No. 8 single-season mark in Grove City history. Kimmich moved into a tie for fourth place in program history with 17 career assists. He is tied with current head coach Mike Dreves (1993-96) and Nate Jones (2002-05) on Grove City's career list.

Grove City closes its regular season home schedule Saturday at 3:30 p.m. by hosting Washington & Jefferson at Don Lyle Field.
