Historic day for Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's volleyball team earned the first two victories in program history Saturday afternoon by recording a pair of non-conference sweeps in the Grove City College Arena. The Wolverines opened the day with a 25-14, 26-24, 25-17 win over Mount Aloysius. Grove City then swept Olivet in the nightcap, 25-21, 25-17, 25-12.

Senior Quintin Norris (Savannah, N.Y./North Rose-Wolcott) and freshman Keith Otto (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) both recorded a team-leading seven kills in the opener. Sophomore setter Craig Fair (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) recorded 24 assists.

Defensively, junior middle blocker Tieg Malcolm (New Philadelphia, Ohio/Homeschooled) paced Grove City (2-4) with eight blocks. He added a pair of serving aces. Norris added three blocks. Sophomore libero Phillip Schweitzer (Erie, Pa./McDowell) tallied a team-high eight digs while sophomore Max Gianneski (Butler, Pa./Butler) totaled six digs. 

Gianneski and Norris both posted a team-high eight kills against Olivet. Sophomore Andrew Kessler (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) added six kills while Otto authored five kills. Fair finished with 23 assists. Malcolm and sophomore Hayden McCreadie (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) both served two aces. 

Kessler and Malcolm each had four blocks. Gianneski collected six digs. 

Grove City returns to action next Friday and Saturday with three matches at Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y. The Wolverines will play Curry at 6 p.m. Friday in Elmira.
