WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The third time was indeed the charm for the Grove City College women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon at Washington & Jefferson.
Two years ago, Grove City closed its inaugural season by dropping a 13-5 decision at W&J in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament title game. Last year, W&J edged visiting Grove City in the tournament semifinals, 9-8.Â
Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium, Grove City turned the tables on top-seeded W&J by earning a 13-10 win over the Presidents in the 2024 conference tournament title game. It is Grove City's first conference title in women's lacrosse, as well as the Wolverines' first-ever win over W&J.

Nazigian scored three times in the first quarter while Shilling scored off a Martin assist to help the Wolverines secure a 4-1 lead after 15 minutes. Roetering and Rowell recorded two goals apiece in the second quarter as the lead swelled to 9-1. Stevenson scored with 57 seconds left in the second quarter to give the third-seeded Wolverines a 10-2 halftime lead.Â
Grove City led 13-4 after three quarters but W&J scored six goals in the first 7:40 of the fourth period. Grove City blanked W&J over the final 7:20 to cement the victory, however.Â
Grove City held a 22-21 edge in total shots. Each team had 18 shots on goal.Â
Junior goalie
Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) stopped eight shots to earn her program-record 14th win of the season.Â
