GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the second quarter Tuesday evening on the way to a 17-5 home win over sixth-seeded Westminster in the quarterfinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, held at Don Lyle Field.
No. 3 seed Grove City (13-5) will visit No. 2 Allegheny at 7 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.
Freshman attack
Taylor Blythe (Mendon, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) tied her own single-game program record with 10 total points as she accumulated five goals and five assists. Senior midfielder
Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) fired in six goals to help pace the Wolverines.

Gwen Shilling (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) scored twice as part of a three-point night. Grove City also received goals from senior attack

Nazigian scored four first-half goals while Blythe had three goals and three assists over the first two periods to help Grove City take its 10-0 lead. Westminster trimmed the lead to 10-2 by halftime but Grove City fully broke open the game by scoring the first four goals of the third quarter. Blythe and Nazigian both scored off Martin assists in the first 2:26 of the second half. Shilling and Nazigian closed Grove City's scoring in the third quarter as the Wolverines took a 14-3 lead into the fourth period.
Defensively, Grove City limited Westminster to 11 total shots. The Wolverines also forced 20 turnovers. Wartman caused four turnovers while Jackson, Nazigian and Roetering each had two caused turnovers.
Jackson led Grove City with five ground balls. Nazigian and Wartman both collected three ground balls. Wartman had six draw controls and Nazigian had five draw controls.
Junior goalie
Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) earned her 12th win of the season by stopping three shots in 41:55 of action. Sophomore
Mia Gallagher (Mogadore, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) made two saves over the final 18:05.
Grove City outshot Westminster, 33-11. The Wolverines finished the game with 16 turnovers.
Blythe also had five goals and five assists April 2 against Saint Vincent. She has a program-record 31 assists this year. Wartman's 57 caused turnovers are the most in one season in program annals.
Allegheny defeated Grove City, 14-8, April 20 at Don Lyle Field. The Wolverines are 3-2 all-time in the conference tournament, including a 1-1 mark in the semifinal round.
