MELBOURNE, Fla. -- The Grove City College softball team continued its week-long spring trip to the Space Coast Games by playing doubleheaders Tuesday and Wednesday. The Wolverines went 1-1 Tuesday, closing the day with a 10-0 win over Houghton. Alma clipped Grove City in Tuesday's opener, 5-3.
Wednesday, Eastern pulled out a 7-2 win over the Wolverines. Rose-Hulman then scored seven runs in the top of the seventh in Wednesday's nightcap as Grove City dropped a 10-0 decision.
Freshman pitcher
Abigail Meadors (Warren, Ohio/Champion) fired a two-hit shutout to earn the win against Houghton. She struck out nine while earning her second win in as many days.Â
Meadors opened the scoring in the first inning as her two-run single drove in freshman center fielder

Rylie Eaton (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) scored on a double from junior right fielder
Annika Rinehart (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry). Sophomore catcher
Jonalyn Wharry (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) then doubled home Rinehart to give Grove City a 6-0 lead. Wharry scored Grove City's seventh run when she came home on a single by junior shortstop
Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana).

Kamryn Weissinger (Youngsville, Pa./Youngsville) in the seventh inning. Covert then doubled in Wharry and Montone to close the scoring. Linhart, Montone and Wharry all had two hits.
Rinehart also doubled in Tuesday's opener against Alma. Senior catcher
Lauren Harris (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) cracked a two-run single in the sixth to cap the Wolverines' three-run outburst. Covert and sophomore pinch hitter
Lily DeMeio (Butler, Pa./Butler) scored on the Harris hit. Covert also singled in Linhart in the sixth inning.
Freshman pitcher
Alexis Jackson (Coventry Township, Pa./Coventry) started and allowed two runs in four innings. She allowed one hit while walking six. Covert pitched the fith while junior
Brooke Brodie (Mogadore, Ohio/Mogadore) pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Brodie struck out three.
Rinehart doubled, singled and drove in both of Grove City's runs against Eastern. Meadors pitched 4 2/3 innings and yielded seven runs. Meadors struck out three but took the defeat. Jackson recorded the final four outs in relief.Â
Rinehart then went 2 for 2 in the nightcap against Rose-Hulman. Brodie added a single. Starter Jackson allowed two runs in four innings. Brodie allowed three earned runs in two innings while Covert yielded two unearned runs in her inning.
Grove City will face Alma and Rose-Hulman again Thursday. The Wolverines play Alma at 10 a.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. tilt with Rose-Hulman.Â
