PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped to 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 91-43 setback Saturday afternoon at Chatham in the Cougars' Athletic and Fitness Center. Chatham (5-3, 3-2 PAC) led 21-15 after one quarter, then broke open the game with a 24-4 scoring edge in the second period.

Meredith Sherrerd (New Braunfels, Texas/New Braunfels) paced Grove City (4-4, 3-2) with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting. Senior guard
Mara Polczynski (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and sophomore guard
Sarah Pifer (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) each added six points.Â
Grove City shot 18 of 52 (35 percent) from the field for the game while Chatham shot 51 percent (30 of 59). The Cougars hit 11 of 20 (55 percent) three-point attempts while Grove City made 3 of 18 long-distance attempts.Â

Clara Hannon (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and junior guard
Reese Hasley (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) all had four rebounds.Â
Polczynski also recorded three steals. Hannon and freshman forward
Alexis Hudson (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) both had three assists.Â
Grove City turned over the ball 28 times, which Chatham converted into 36 points. Chatham had 15 turnovers. Hannah Chenault led Chatham with 19 points.
The Wolverines step out of conference play for a pair of games December 19-20 in the Tampa Bay area. Grove City will face North Park at 1 p.m. December 19, then squares off with Wisconsin-Stout at 11 a.m. the next day.
