PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team closed the 2024 regular season Saturday by splitting a non-conference tri-match at Carnegie Mellon University. The Wolverines dropped the opener to CMU at Highmark Center, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20. However, Grove City (15-14) rebounded for a 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 25-23 triumph over Oberlin in Saturday's finale.
Sophomore
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) paced Grove City with 11 kills against Oberlin while classmate
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) posted 10 kills. Freshman
Sage LaTour (Brown Summit, N.C./Homeschooled) added a season-high nine kills.
Junior setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) recorded 19 assists while senior setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) had 12 assists.Â
Lagaras also served four aces and Wirebaugh had three aces.Â
Sophomore
Kendra Klusch (Alliance, Ohio/Homeschooled) chalked up seven blocks to help lead the defense. Junior
Lila Stonehouse (Hatboro, Pa./Abington) and freshman
Lilly Pool (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) both had three blocks. LaTour and sophomore
Alexis Standford (Walkersville, Md./New Life Christian) each had two blocks.
Sophomore libero
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) tallied a team-high 23 digs. Kerr added 11 digs.Â
Dorst led the Wolverines with six kills against Carnegie Mellon. Standford added five kills. Kerr recorded 10 assists. Lagaras and Wirebaugh both had two aces.Â
Defensively, Pool posted four blocks while Lagaras added two blocks. Fisher recorded 21 digs while junior
Ella Kopas (Tucson, Ariz./Veritas) contributed 11 digs.Â
Grove City must now wait on Saturday night's Presidents' Athletic Conference action to see if the Wolverines qualify for next week's conference tournament. A Bethany win over Westminster in the regular season finale would vault Grove City into the tournament.
