ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team improved to 8-1 overall by earning two wins Friday night at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. Grove City opened the night with a 25-7, 25-15, 25-15 win over Utica. The Wolverines then rolled past previously-undefeated Penn State Behrend in the nightcap at the Junker Center, 25-16, 25-21, 25-15.
Grove City's 8-1 start is its best start since the 2006 team also won eight of its first nine outings.
Senior
Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) paced the Wolverines with 11 kills against Utica while freshman
Lily Lagaras (Crofton, Md./Crofton) added five kills. Sophomore setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and freshman
Alayna Dorst (Middletown, Del./Middletown) both served four aces.

Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) recorded 19 assists and Wirebaugh had nine assists.Â

Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) led the Wolverine defense with five blocks while DeGraaf posted three blocks. Lagaras, senior

Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded a team-leading 12 digs. Freshman
Julia Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) added 10 digs.Â
After serving 12 aces in the opener against Utica, the Wolverines tallied 11 aces against Behrend. DeGraaf served four aces while Fisher had three aces. Lucas served a pair of aces.
DeGraaf posted a team-leading eight kills while Dorst contributed six kills. Kerr again had 19 assists and Wirebaugh had nine assists.Â
Donnelly recorded four blocks while DeGraaf delivered three blocks. Lucas chalked up 16 digs while Fisher had 12 digs. Kerr also reached double figures in digs, tallying 11.
Grove City will play twice Saturday at Behrend. At 11 a.m., Grove City will face Fredonia State. The Wolverines close the weekend with a 3 p.m. match against Alfred State.
