Emma Herrmann (Hilton, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) scored twice and junior forward
Britta Lagerquist (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) added an insurance goal to help lift the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win Saturday night at Roanoke College in non-conference play at Donald J. Kerr Stadium
Herrmann gave Grove City (1-1) a 1-0 lead by scoring her first goal of the season at the 12:34 mark. The Wolverines led 1-0 at halftime but Roanoke's Brooke Nicholson tied the match with an unassisted goal 4:58 into the second half.
The Wolverines reclaimed the lead seven minutes later, however, as Herrmann scored at 57:12. Lagerquist sewed up the win by scoring at 87:35.
Roanoke out-shot Grove City in the first half, 12-5, but Grove City held a 13-5 edge in shots over the final 45 minutes. The Wolverines doubled up the Maroons in shots on goal, 12-6. Grove City also had seven corner kicks while Roanoke netted one corner.
Junior goalkeeper
Courtney Lisman (Mars, Pa./Mars) made five saves to earn the victory. It is her first win of the season and the 22nd of her career.
Grove City will open its home schedule Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Mount Union.
