BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped an 85-66 decision Saturday afternoon at Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Metheny Field House. Geneva outscored Grove City, 20-7, over the final 6:30 of Saturday's game.
Sophomore guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led Grove City's balanced attack with 12 points. Fellow sophomore guard
Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) fired 11 points while junior forward
Jon Weir (Venetia, Pa./Quaker Valley) and freshman guard
Daniel Penosky (Fort Mill, S.C./Legion) each added nine points.
Yarberough led Grove City with seven rebounds as the Wolverines earned a 39-37 rebound edge. Freshman guard
Mike Christenson (Oakton, Va./Trinity) added five boards.
Grove City finished the game 26 of 70 (37 percent) from the field. Geneva finished 30 of 61 (49 percent). The Tornadoes hit 16 of 26 (62 percent) three-point attempts. Geneva drained three-pointers on each of the first four possessions of its game-ending run.
Christenson dished out a game-high four assists. The Wolverines had a season-low six turnovers. Geneva turned over the ball seven times.
Trevor Tipton led Geneva with 26 points. Geneva led 43-32 at halftime.
Grove City (6-11, 4-8 PAC) returns to action Wednesday at Franciscan. That conference game will tip off at 8 p.m. in Steubenville.
