DeLucia goal shocks Chargers

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Junior midfielder Chris DeLucia (Kent, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) broke a scoreless tie Saturday night by scoring with nine seconds left in regulation to lift the Grove City College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Lancaster Bible (1-1) in non-conference action at Don Lyle Field.

Grove City (2-0) had possession in the offensive end in the closing moments. A Grove City throw-in ended up inside the box and DeLucia's header eluded Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Isaac Barrow and then went past two defender behind him and into the net.

It is DeLucia's first goal this year and the second game-winner of his career.

The Wolverines held a 15-9 edge in shots. Each team had five shots on goal. Grove City had six corner kicks while Lancaster Bible recorded five corners.

Senior goalkeeper Jesse Greyshock (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) stopped five shots to earn his second career shutout victory. Barrow stopped four shots.

Grove City begins a four-game road swing Wednesday with a 5 p.m. match at perennial Ohio power Oberlin.
