PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College volleyball team earned a 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 victory Tuesday night at La Roche in non-conference action at the Kerr Sports and Fitness Center.
Senior
Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) paced Grove City (8-7) with a dozen kills while junior
Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded six kills. Sophomore
Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) added five kills.
Freshman setter
Brooklyn Wirebaugh (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) served a career-high seven aces. That ties Grove City's single-match aces record in the rally scoring era (2001-present). She also had 11 assists.
Sophomore setter
Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) led Grove City with 14 assists.
Defensively, junior Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) led Grove City with 15 digs. Keating posted 12 digs and DeGraaf added eight digs. DeGraaf and Donnelly both had two blocks.
Wirebaugh is the sixth Grove City player with seven aces in a match since 2001, joining Lisa Bodi (2003), Carlie Roberts (2005), Inge Rasmussen (2009), Mary Masincup (2011) and Amy Trageser (2014). Bodi, Roberts and Masincup also accomplished the feat in three sets.
Cara Denniston holds Grove City's single-match record with 15 aces September 12, 2000 against Geneva.
Now 8-2 over its last 10 matches, Grove City will visit Westminster for a non-conference match Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
