WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team closed the 2022 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 17-9 road setback to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Washington & Jefferson (10-4, 8-0 PAC) at Alexandre Stadium. Grove City (13-3, 7-1 PAC) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament while W&J will be the top seed in the four-team derby.
Grove City trailed 6-3 early in the second quarter but goals from senior attack
Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian) and freshman attack
Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) trimmed the lead to 6-5 by halftime. Junior midfielder
Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) scored a pair of goals in the third quarter, knotting the game 7-7.
W&J scored the final five goals of the period, however.
Nazigian fired in six goals to lead Grove City. Freshman midfielder
Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) added a goal for the Wolverines. Nazigian, Stoltzfus, sophomore attack
Madeline Dunda (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and freshman attack
Sarah Pindel (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) all had assists.
Nazigian recorded five draw controls while sophomore midfielder
Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) had four draw controls. Roetering and freshman defender
Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) both had five ground balls. Roetering also caused five turnovers and Arnold caused two turnovers.

Elyse Kiggins (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) made seven saves for the Wolverines. W&J outshot Grove City, 31-20. The Wolverines had 31 turnovers and W&J committed 26 turnovers.
Grove City will host a conference tournament semifinal Wednesday. The Wolverines' opponent and time of the game will be determined following the conclusion of the conference schedule Sunday.
