WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's lacrosse team closed the 2022 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 17-9 road setback to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Washington & Jefferson (10-4, 8-0 PAC) at Alexandre Stadium. Grove City (13-3, 7-1 PAC) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament while W&J will be the top seed in the four-team derby.

Grove City trailed 6-3 early in the second quarter but goals from senior attack Brooke Stoltzfus (Elverson, Pa./Conestoga Christian) and freshman attack Abby Roetering (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) trimmed the lead to 6-5 by halftime. Junior midfielder Madison Nazigian (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) scored a pair of goals in the third quarter, knotting the game 7-7.

W&J scored the final five goals of the period, however.

Nazigian fired in six goals to lead Grove City. Freshman midfielder Amber Wartman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) added a goal for the Wolverines. Nazigian, Stoltzfus, sophomore attack Madeline Dunda (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and freshman attack Sarah Pindel (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) all had assists.

Nazigian recorded five draw controls while sophomore midfielder Lucy Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) had four draw controls. Roetering and freshman defender Emily Arnold (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) both had five ground balls. Roetering also caused five turnovers and Arnold caused two turnovers.
