NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Westminster. Westminster won the opener, 7-2, then secured an 8-0 victory in Game Two.
In Game One, Grove City broke through in the fifth inning when junior
Janessa Dawson (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) singled in sophomore catcher
Lauren Harris (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny). In the seventh, sophomore left fielder
Lauren McNeil (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) doubled in junior pinch runner
Clare Moran (Watertown, N.Y./Indian River).
Senior right fielder
Hannah Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) also doubled for the Wolverines, who had four hits in the opener. Sophomore pitcher
Kaitlyn Constantino (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) took the setback after allowing seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. Senior
Kaitlyn Dittrich (Houston, Pa./Houston) pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Dawson started in the circle in Game Two and pitched four innings, absorbing the defeat. Dittrich also pitched in relief.
