GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon by dropping both ends of a home doubleheader with Saint Vincent at College Field. Saint Vincent (12-0, 2-0 PAC) pulled out a 5-4 win in the opener, then scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim a 7-3 win in Game Two.
Grove City (6-8, 0-2) grabbed the lead in the opener by scoring four runs in the bottom of the third. Junior
Janessa Dawson (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) opened the scoring by driving in sophomore pitcher
Kaitlyn Constantino (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) with a bases-loaded single.

Emily Smyth (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) then belted a three-run double that scored Dawson, senior shortstop
Lexi Buck (Akron, Ohio/Lake Center Christian) and sophomore left fielder
Lauren McNeil (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian).
Dawson also tripled for Grove City. Constantino and senior center fielder
Morgan Prouty (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) both doubled.Â
Constantino threw a complete game, allowing four earned runs in seven innings. She struck out two and yielded six hits.
In Game Two, Grove City trailed 2-0 entering the fifth inning but charged ahead with a three-run rally. Senior right fielder
Hannah Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) tied the game by lining a two-run home run to right-center field.Â

Saint Vincent tied the game in the top of the seventh and then reclaimed the lead on Abbey Ginter's grand slam.Â

Maralee Caldana (Milesburg, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) doubled for the Wolverines, who finished with six hits in the nightcap.

Grove City will visit Thiel at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for a conference doubleheader in Greenville.
