GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team evened its Presidents' Athletic Conference record at 2-2 by sweeping a conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Thiel. The Wolverines won the opener in five innings, 11-3, then picked up a 4-1 win in the nightcap at Tomcat Park.
Grove City (8-8) pounded out 14 hits in the opener, led by a 3-for-3 outing from senior first baseman
Haley Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton). Dietz cracked a pair of doubles, scored three times and drove in four runs.Â

Janessa Dawson (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) went 2 for 3 and scored twice, while sophomore pitcher
Kaitlyn Constantino (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) doubled and singled. Sophomore left fielder
Lauren McNeil (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) added a pair of singles while senior right fielder
Hannah Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and sophomore third baseman
Maralee Caldana (Milesburg, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) both doubled.
Grove City grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning as
Haley Dietz doubled in Dawson and later scored on a groundout by sophomore catcher
Emily Smyth (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township). McNeil singled home Constantino in the second inning, pushing the lead to 3-0.
The Wolverines then broke open the game with eight runs in the third inning.
Hannah Dietz belted a two-run double to give Grove City a 5-0 lead.

Constantino earned the win by pitching four shutout innings. She struck out eight, walked none and allowed one hit. Senior
Kaitlyn Dittrich (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) pitched the fifth and struck out one.
Dawson threw a four-hitter in Game Two to secure her fifth win of the season. Dawson (5-2) struck out five and allowed one run in seven innings. Offensively, she helped pace the Wolverines with a triple, single and two runs scored. Smyth doubled twice and junior left fielder
Clare Moran (Watertown, N.Y./Indian River) roped a triple.
Haley Dietz added a double.
As in Game One, Grove City scored twice in the top of the first in the second game. Caldana's groundout scored Dawson and Smyth later scored on a
Hannah Dietz single.Â
Smyth doubled in Dawson in the fifth to give Grove City a 3-1 lead.

Grove City will host Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.
