WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team closed the 2021-22 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 77-55 setback at Washington & Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Salvitti Family Gymnasium. W&J (21-4, 16-2 PAC) clinched the top seed in next week's conference tournament with Saturday's victory.
Grove City (9-15, 5-12 PAC) took a 14-12 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half when senior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) drained a jumper. W&J pulled ahead, 19-14, but the Wolverines quickly countered as Rose and sophomore forward
Chris Brooks (Canfield, Ohio/South Range) scored consecutive field goals.
However, W&J assembled a 13-0 run over the next three minutes. The Presidents led 34-20 at halftime.
Rose led Grove City with 12 points. Sophomore forward
Luca Robinson (Castaic, Calif./Hart) added eight points. Junior
Joshua McCray (Jessup, Md./Ashville College, U.K.), freshman center
Russ Gump (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and freshman center
Christian Wiseman (Martinsville, Ind./Indian Creek) all tossed in six points.
Robinson pulled in eight rebounds, Rose had seven boards and freshman forward
Ben Cano (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) collected six rebounds. Grove City out-rebounded W&J, 44-35.
Grove City finished the game 25 of 63 (40 percent) from the field while W&J shot 26 of 62 (42 percent). Grove City committed 20 turnovers and W&J had 10 turnovers.

John Ward (Charlotte, N.C./Covenant Day) distributed four assists for Grove City. Cano, Rose, junior forward
Josh Bryan (Salem, Va./Salem) and freshman guard
Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) all had two assists. Rose recorded four steals.
Kyran Mitchell led W&J with 18 points.
Grove City will host a PAC Tournament first round game Monday evening. The time and opponent will be determined Saturday night.
