GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team remained undefeated in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon by earning a 4-2 victory over visiting Bethany on Senior Day at Don Lyle Field. The Wolverines are now 7-0 in the conference.
Grove City (9-5 overall) broke a 2-2 tie at 56:22 when senior forward
Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence) scored on a penalty kick after a handball in the box. The Wolverines then added an insurance goal at 72:24 when freshman midfielder
Daniel Sharp (Zagreb, Croatia/XV Gymnasium) scored his third goal of the season. Sophomore forward
Fisher Berkowich (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) assisted Sharp's goal.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 18 minutes. Following a Grove City free kick, the ball deflected off a Bethany defender's head into the net, giving Grove City a 1-0 lead at 11:12.
Grove City doubled the lead at 17:49 when freshman midfielder
Aidan Eck (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) scored his second goal of 2022. Sophomore defender
Luke Kimmich (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) assisted the Eck goal.
Bethany's Sylvanus Foday scored twice in the first half to tie the match, however. He opened the Bethany scoring at 19:14, then tied the match with a goal at 37:01.
Grove City outshot Bethany (6-6-3, 2-3-2 PAC) 12-11. The Wolverines put seven shots on goal while Bethany tallied five shots on goal. Grove City also held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.

Jesse Greyshock (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) made three saves to secure the victory.

Grove City will close its home schedule Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. when the Wolverines host conference foe Waynesburg at Don Lyle Field.
