GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped a 69-54 decision Monday night at Thiel in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.
Senior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) and freshman center
Christian Wiseman (Martinsville, Ind./Indian Creek) each paced Grove City (7-10, 3-7 PAC) with 10 points.
Thiel jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first eight minutes and held a 34-23 lead at halftime. The Tomcats shot 52 percent (15 of 29) from the field in the first half while Grove City shot 11 of 32 (34 percent) in the first 20 minutes. Overall, Grove City went 21 of 63 (32 percent) from the floor. Thiel finished the game 31 of 65 (48 percent) on field goals.
Rose led Grove City with six rebounds and sophomore forward
Chris Brooks (Canfield, Ohio/South Range) collected five rebounds. Thiel outrebounded Grove City, 43-38.
Brooks also had three steals while freshman guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) had three assists. Grove City had 14 turnovers. Thiel finished with 13 turnovers.
Marlon Ellerbee led Thiel with 20 points.
Grove City continues its three-game road trip Wednesday night at conference foe Geneva. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. in Beaver Falls.
