GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team opened this week's three-game homestand Monday night by dropping an 88-72 verdict to visiting Geneva in Presidents' Athletic Conference play at the Grove City College Arena.
Senior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) paced Grove City with 19 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Sophomore forward
Luca Robinson (Castaic, Calif./Hart) and freshman guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) both added eight points for the Wolverines.
Geneva shot 18 of 32 (56 percent) from the field in the first half, including an 8-for-15 effort on three-pointers. Geneva led 47-32 at halftime.
Geneva finished the game 33 of 63 (52 percent) from the floor. Grove City converted 28 of 69 (41 percent) field goal attempts.
Grove City out-rebounded Geneva, 51-30. The Wolverines had 26 offensive rebounds while Geneva secured 22 defensive boards. Robinson collected six rebounds while junior forwards
Josh Bryan (Salem, Va./Salem) and
Elijah White (Zelienople, Pa./Portersville Christian) both posted five rebounds.
Senior center
Josh Brown (Enumclaw, Wash./Enumclaw) dished out four assists and Rose tallied three assists. Grove City finished the game with 16 assists and only 10 turnovers. Geneva had two turnovers.
Lyle Tipton led Geneva (9-6, 7-2 PAC) with 37 points.
Grove City (6-9, 2-6 PAC) will host Franciscan at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in conference play.
