Balanced effort lifts Grove City to 3rd straight

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack Thursday night to pull out a 26-24, 27-25, 27-29, 25-20 victory over visiting Franciscan in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Thursday night at the Grove City College Arena. It is Grove City's third straight overall win and sixth straight home victory.

Four Grove City players recorded double-digit kill totals Thursday night, led by a career-high 17 kills from freshman Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge). Sophomore Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) pounded out 14 kills while junior Robyn Collier (Corona, Calif./Carnegie Riverside) recorded a dozen kills. Junior Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) added 11 kills.

Freshman setter Katie Kenlein (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) tallied a career-high 29 assists and freshman setter Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) distributed 27 assists. 

Donnelly also set a career high with six blocks. Collier collected five blocks while DeGraaf added three blocks. Keating also had two blocks.

Keating led Grove City with 26 digs. Freshman libero Mya Lathem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) recorded 17 digs while sophomore Lexie Auth (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) totaled 12 digs in three sets of action. Kenlein (11) and Kerr (10) also had double-digit dig outings.

Grove City (10-5, 5-1 PAC) will now play its next six matches on the road. The road trip begins Saturday with a non-conference tri-match in Lancaster, Pa. The Wolverines will play Widener at 1 p.m. and then face host Lancaster Bible at 3 p.m. in the nightcap.
