Grove City nipped in OT

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City College women's basketball players scored in double figures Monday night but the Wolverines dropped a 78-74 overtime decision to visiting Saint Vincent in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Grove City College Arena. Saint Vincent improved to 7-0 while Grove City fell to 7-1.

Senior guard Lindsey Stanforth (Novelty, Ohio/West Geauga) fired in a career-high 11 points while junior forward Allison Podkul (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) added 10 points.

Grove City took a 70-69 lead with 1:31 remaining in overtime when Stanforth drilled her third three-pointer of the game. However, Saint Vincent reclaimed the lead for good on the next possession as Carlee Kilgus scored in the paint.

Vezzosi's three-pointer cut Saint Vincent's lead to 75-73 with 18 seconds left. Kilgus hit one of two free throws to push the lead back to three. Grove City had two opportunities in the closing moments to tie the game, down three, but did not convert.

Saint Vincent led 31-26 and led for much of the second half. The Wolverines forged a 46-46 tie with two minutes left in the third quarter on a steal and layup by sophomore guard Megan Kallock (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem).

Grove City finally took its first lead of the second half with 36 seconds left in regulation on Vezzosi's three-pointer. Kilgus tied the game with 16 seconds left. Grove City had an opportunity to win at the end of regulation but did not score.

Grove City will host Geneva in a non-conference game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Grove City College Arena.
