WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team dropped a 62-40 decision Wednesday night at Washington & Jefferson in the semifinals of the 2021 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, held at the Henry Memorial Center. W&J will now face top-seeded Saint Vincent in Saturday's title game.
Grove City shot 25 percent (16 of 63) from the field for the game, including 2-of-18 shooting in the fourth quarter. W&J led 46-36 entering the fourth quarter and sealed the win with a 16-4 edge over the final 10 minutes.Â

Kat Goetz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) paced Grove City (8-2) with 14 points and 10 rebounds, recording her fifth double-double of the season. Senior guard
Jess Bowen (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and sophomore guard
Emma Vezzosi (St. Mary's County, Md./Leonardtown) both added seven points.Â
Grove City led 19-17 after one quarter after a layup by senior center
Sedona Campbell (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) in the closing seconds of the period broke a 17-17 tie. Senior guard
Jordan McConnell (Smithville, Ohio/Smithville) opened the second quarter with a jumper, giving Grove City a 21-17 lead.Â
However, W&J held Grove City scoreless for seven minutes as the Presidents embarked on a 7-0. Senior guard
Lindsey Stanforth (Novelty, Ohio/West Geauga) stopped the run by hitting a jumper for Grove City. W&J led 31-26 at halftime.
Bowen added seven rebounds for Grove City. W&J outrebounded Grove City, 54-30. Bowen and McConnell both had three steals. Senior forward
Jessica Kimbrell (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) blocked a pair of shots.Â
W&J (8-0) shot 23 of 55 (42 percent) from the field. W&J had 24 turnovers while Grove City had 17 turnovers. Alie Seto led W&J with 19 points.

Steph Croll (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) comprise Grove City's eight-player senior class. The four seniors helped Grove City to a 33-5 overall record over the last two years and a 69-27 mark in their four seasons at the College.Â
