BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Grove City College men's basketball team fired in 11 three-point goals Wednesday afternoon on the way to an 84-72 victory over Miami University-Hamilton in the opening day of action at the McDonald's of Bluffton Tournament, hosted by Bluffton University at the Sommer Center.
Freshman guard
Jonah Bock (Erie, Pa./McDowell) fired in six three-pointers as part of an 18-point outing. Bock went 6 of 10 from behind the three-point line. Sophomore guard
Luca Robinson (Castaic, Calif./Hart) posted a season-high 13 points and freshman forward
Ben Cano (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) added 10 points in his first collegiate start.Â
Defensively, Grove City held Miami-Hamilton (3-3) to 18 percent (6 of 33) shooting from the field in the first half as the Wolverines stormed to a 39-15 halftime lead.
The Wolverines took command of the game with a 17-0 run during the first half. Senior guard
Ben Rose (Helena, Ala./Helena) sparked the run with consecutive jumpers while Bock and sophomore forward
Sam Schudel (Stuttgart, Germany/Stuttgart) hit three-pointers.Â
Grove City then held Miami-Hamilton without a field goal over the final six minutes of the half as the Wolverines went on an 11-1 spurt. Freshman forward
Bobby Little (Currituck, N.C./Currituck County) ignited the run with a layup. Rose and Cano followed with jumpers and Bock then drilled another three-pointer. Schudel capped the run with two free throws in the closing seconds of the half.
Schudel finished with nine points while Rose and junior guard
Joshua McCray (Jessup, Md./Ashville College, U.K.) each had eight points.
Rose ripped down a career-high 14 rebounds to help Grove City (5-4) earn a 49-31 edge on the glass. Robinson recorded eight rebounds while Bock and Cano each had six boards.

Chase Yarberough (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) recorded four assists and McCray assisted three field goals.Â
Grove City shot 41 percent (26 of 64) from the field, including an 11-of-21 performance on three-point attempts. Grove City also went 21 for 23 (91 percent) at the foul line. Miami-Hamilton converted 28 of 70 (40 percent) attempts from the floor.Â
Miami-Hamilton had 15 turnovers while the Wolverines turned over the ball 24 times. Jamison Bradley led Miami-Hamilton with 23 points.
Grove City will face host Bluffton at 7 p.m. Thursday in the second day of action at the tournament. That will be Grove City's final game of the calendar year.
