Top seed holds off Grove City in semifinals

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team's bid for a second straight road victory in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament fell just short Thursday night in the semifinals at Westminster as the top-seeded Titans pulled out a 25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24 victory over Grove City at Memorial Field House.

Grove City led 23-22 in the fourth set but Westminster (27-4) scored four of the final five points in the match to claim the set and the match. 

Junior Faith Keating (Troy, Mich./Troy) and sophomore Anna DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) each posted a team-high 13 kills for Grove City. Junior Robyn Collier (Corona, Calif./Carnegie Riverside) added seven kills on 19 attacks, good for a match-high .368 hitting percentage. Sophomore Eloise Augustine (Lebanon, Ohio/Mars Hill) tallied a half-dozen kills

Freshman setter Kennedy Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) distributed 24 assists and freshman setter Katie Kenlein (Spokane, Wash./Lewis and Clark) recorded 14 assists. Freshman libero Mya Lathem (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) served a match-high three aces.

Keating led Grove City's defense with 27 digs. Kenlein chalked up 11 digs while Kerr and Lathem each had nine digs. Sophomore Gabby Lucas (Butler, Pa./Butler) added nine digs. DeGraaf had a match-high three blocks while sophomore Katie Pry (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) and freshman Audrey Donnelly (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Woodridge) each had two blocks.

Tuesday night, Grove City rallied for a 3-2 win at No. 4 Thiel in the conference tournament quarterfinals. The Wolverines entered the six-team as the No. 5 seed.
