GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 double-overtime decision Saturday afternoon to visiting Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Senior Day at Don Lyle Field. Bethany's Lucas Puebla scored with 14 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give the Bison the victory.
Grove City jumped out to a 2-0 lead as junior forward
Sam Belitz (Independence, Ohio/Independence) scored twice in the first half. Belitz scored an unassisted goal at 3:32 after a Bethany turnover. At 29:00, Belitz scored after receiving an assist from sophomore forward
Hunter Hardin (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Freeport).
Bethany cut the lead to 2-1 at 75:08 on a goal by Fausto Gionchetti. Two minutes later, Puebla tied the match.
Each team had 10 shots on goal. Bethany held an 18-17 edge in total shots. Grove City had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks, including a 3-0 edge in the second overtime period.
