GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College football team outscored visiting Geneva 21-0 over the final 11 minutes Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines earned a 45-28 home victory in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field. It is Grove City's 16th Senior Day win in the last 21 years and Grove City's third straight win over Geneva.
Grove City took the lead for good with 10:38 remaining in the game when sophomore quarterback
Josh Ehst (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver
Cameron Drake (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) on third-and-goal, putting the Wolverines ahead 31-28.
Geneva then fumbled the subsequent kickoff as freshman linebacker
Curtis Freyermuth (Meadville, Pa./Cochranton) dislodged the ball from Geneva's Gino Mavero and sophomore linebacker
Nik Grabiec (Newport, Pa./Newport) jumped on the fumble at the Geneva 40.Â
Ehst fired a 36-yard strike to Drake on the next play, giving Grove City goal to go. Afer a Grove City penalty, senior running back
Wesley Schools (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) scored on a nine-yard touchdown run with 9:05 left.
The Wolverine defense recovered another Geneva fumble on the next drive as senior defensive end
Chris Wolfe (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) recovered a fumble at the Grove City 33. The Wolverines then sewed up the win when Ehst launched a 48-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver
Cody Gustafson (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) with 4:40 left.
Gustafson tied Grove City's career receptions record on that catch as he now has 174 career catches. That ties him with Rick Sems (1989-82) for first place.
Gustafson finished Saturday's game with five catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Drake had four receptions for 71 yards. Ehst completed 11 of 16 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns.
Schools finished with 208 yards and three touchdowns on 35 carries. He now has 1,548 yards this season, along with 22 rushing touchdowns. His 25-yard touchdown run with 6:56 left in the first quarter tied the game 7-7 after Geneva quarterback Amos Luptak scored on a 25-yard run at the 10:36 mark.
Luptak pushed the lead to 14-7 with 1:14 remaining in the first quarter as he scored on a two-yard run. Grove City sophomore kicker
Nick Morrow (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) closed the first-half scoring by booting a 24-yard field goal with 11:34 left in the first half.Â
Grove City fumbled early in the third quarter and Geneva quickly capitalized as Frankie Centofanti scored on a 31-yard run 25 seconds in the half, pushing the lead to 21-10. Grove City answered with a 75-yard scoring drive, capped by Schools' 10-yard touchdown run with 11:38 remaining in the quarter.
Grove City took its first lead of the game, 24-21, with 3:34 left in the third period when Ehst fired a four-yard touchdown dart to Gustafson.
Grove City (7-2, 6-2) outgained Geneva, 449-377. The Wolverines went 6 for 10 on third downs. Grove City owned a 17:51-12:09 edge in time of possession in the second half.Â

Patrick Mark (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Wellington) led Grove City with 11 tackles while sophomore linebacker
Parker Kilgore (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) had nine stops. Wolfe and senior linebacker
Luke Salerno (Cowansville, Pa./Karns City) both had eight tackles. Salerno forced a fumble. Freshman nose tackle
James Parenti (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) also recovered a fumble.
Luptak ran for 179 yards and three touchdowns on 27 attempts to pace Geneva.Â
Gustafson already holds Grove City's career records for receiving yards (2,880) and receiving touchdowns (28). Drake is now sixth all-time at Grove City with 1,539 receiving yards. His 97 career catches rank 10th on Grove City's career list.Â
Grove City will conclude the regular season next Saturday at Thiel in the 36th annual Mercer County Cup game. Kickoff will be 12 p.m. in Greenville.
