MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team scored a season-high 17 runs and pounded out a season-high 18 hits Monday afternoon as the Wolverines closed their non-conference schedule with a 17-4 road win over Allegheny at the Robertston Complex.
Grove City scored in eight of the nine innings and produced 30 base runners in the game. The Wolverines broke open the game by scoring three times in the sixth, once in the seventh and then three runs each in the eighth and ninth innings.

Bubba Hamilton (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) all posted three hits for the Wolverines while junior third baseman
Micah Burke (Gilbert, Ariz./E.V.A.C.) went 2 for 4.
Abbott, Auth, Hamilton and junior second baseman
Bobby Dulay (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) all doubled for the Wolverines. Auth and Orner both scored three times while Abbott, senior left fielder
Tyler Graham (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) and freshman DH
Jared Conti (Hookstown, Pa./South Side Beaver) all scored two runs.
Burke knocked in three runs while Orner, sophomore first baseman
Matt Dayton (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and junior center fielder
Shane Hammel (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) each drove in two runs.
Burke and Orner both walked with the bases loaded during Grove City's four-run fourth inning while Dayton added his second sacrifice fly of the game. Hamilton doubled in Auth in the fifth inning, while in the sixth inning, Auth drove in Dayton with a single.
Burke singled in Conti and Graham in the eighth while Abbott and Dulay hit consecutive doubles in the ninth for Grove City.
Freshman pitcher
Joel Engstrom (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) started for Grove City and pitched three scoreless innings. He yielded one hit. Sophomore
Austin Wacker (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief and picked up the win. He allowed three earned runs while striking out three.
Junior
Phil Bell (Poland, Ohio/Heartland Christian) pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief while Burke struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning.
The 17 runs are the most for the Wolverines since April 27, 2016, when the Wolverines defeated Bethany, 22-7. It's Grove City's highest output in a road game since April 27, 2009, when Grove City earned a 24-5 win at Waynesburg.
Grove City will close the 2018 regular season Saturday at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Waynesburg. The doubleheader will start at 1 p.m.
