GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College football team broke through for its first win of 2017 Saturday night by rallying for a 24-14 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over visiting Saint Vincent at Robert E. Thorn Field before a capacity "Whiteout" crowd. It is also the first victory for Grove City head coach

Wesley Schools (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) charged through the Saint Vincent defense for a season-high 177 yards and three touchdowns while the Grove City defense held Saint Vincent to 233 total yards and a 4-for-14 effort on third down.
Grove City held Saint Vincent to 29 offensive yards on 24 plays over the Bearcats' final five offensive possessions. For the game, the Wolverine defense recorded five quarterback sacks. Senior defensive end

Carl Jaszcar (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) both had two sacks while senior defensive tackle

Grove City trailed 14-10 entering the fourth quarter but took the lead for good with 14:55 remaining when Schools bulled into the end zone from the 2. Sophomore kicker
Mitch Causer (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont-Hilltop) added the extra point.
Following a Saint Vincent punt to its own 46 with 5:41 remaining, the Wolverines needed just four plays for the clinching score. Sophomore quarterback
Randall Labrie (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) fired a 33-yard strike to freshman wide receiver
Cody Gustafson (Newburg, Pa./Shippensburg), advancing the ball to the 13. Labrie then threw an 11-yard completion to senior wide receiver
Gabe Greco (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton), setting up Schools's second two-yard touchdown run.
Saint Vincent (2-2, 1-1 PAC) took a 7-0 lead with 8:52 left in the first quarter when Michael Navarro completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Damon Black, Jr. Grove City answered with a 13-play, 60-yard drive that used 5:10. Causer capped the drive with a 24-yard field goal.
Grove City took its first lead, 10-7, when Schools scored from the 1 with 4:21 remaining in the second quarter. Black, Jr. put Saint Vincent ahead 14-10 when he hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Zavion Thompson at the 11:14 mark of the third quarter.Â
Schools finished the game with a season-high 35 carries. Labrie completed 14 of 23 passes for 154 yards. Gustafson grabbed five passes for 81 yards. Senior
Matt Pennypacker (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) caught a team-high six passes for 50 yards.Â
Grove City held Saint Vincent to 76 rushing yards on 31 attempts, an average of 2.5 yards per carry. Jhanard Dorsett led the Bearcats with 73 yards. Navarro completed 9 of 15 passes for 81 yards while Thompson went 8 of 14 for 76 yards. Black, Jr. had nine receptions for 98 yards.Â
Grove City finished with a 333-233 edge in total offense, along with a 32:45-27:15 time of possession advantage.Â
The 233 yards marks the lowest total allowed by the Wolverines since holding archrival Geneva to 181 yards October 27, 2012.Â
Grove City will visit Waynesburg next Saturday afternoon in conference action at 1:30 p.m.
