ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 4-2 overall on the 2017 season Wednesday night by pulling out a 2-1 victory at longtime non-conference rival Penn State Behrend.
Sophomore midfielder
Ruby Mattson (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) broke a 1-1 tie when she scored at 67:06. Each of Mattson's two goals this season have been game-winners. Senior forward
Lacy Harkrader (Mineral, Va./Louisa County) assisted Mattson's goal.
Grove City grabbed a 1-0 lead at 8:44 when sophomore midfielder
Brooke Thomas (Hummelstown, Pa./King Philip Regional, Va.) recorded her first goal of the season. Senior forward
Elena Guerra (Arlington, Texas/Nolan Catholic) supplied the assist.
Behrend (4-4) forged a 1-1 tie early in the second half on Jordan Oberlander's goal at 47:36.
Grove City owned a 12-10 edge in shots. Behrend had 12 corner kicks, compared to three corners for Grove City. For the Wolverines, senior goalkeeper
Trishae Winters (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) stopped two shots to earn her 21st career victory.Â
Grove City will host Mount Union in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
