NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team swept a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon from longtime rival Westminster, 6-0 and 15-3.
In the opener, sophomore pitcher
John Bini (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) fired a three-hit shutout for Grove City. Bini (4-1) struck out three and did not walk a man in seven innings. A 17-hit offensive outburst then propelled Grove City to its Game Two victory.
Grove City grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning of Game One when senior right fielder
Nolan Myers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) cracked a two-run single that drove in sophomore left fielder
Travis Auth (Medina, Ohio/Medina) and sophomore third baseman
Micah Burke (Gilbert, Ariz./E.V.A.C.).
The Wolverines pushed the lead to 3-0 in the second when sophomore second baseman
Bobby Dulay (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) scored on a double play. In the fourth, senior catcher
Andy Fritz (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) singled in Auth. Myers, who went 2 for 3, later scored Grove City's fifth run on an error.

Myers and Burke both laced two-run singles in the first inning of Game Two, helping Grove City bolt to a 7-0 lead. Fritz added a sacrifice fly during the rally while freshman DH
Matt Dayton (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and junior center fielder
Tyler Graham (Vandergrift, Pa./Kiski Area) both walked with the bases loaded.
Grove City extended the lead to 11-0 in the second inning. Senior first baseman
Matt Waugaman (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) blasted a solo homer to ignite the inning. Myers and Dulay both singled in runs while senior shortstop
David Laylock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) knocked in Dayton with a groundout.
Fritz drilled a two-run homer in the fourth while Waugaman and Smail added run-scoring singles later in the inning, extending Grove City's lead to 15-2.
Dulay finished 3 for 4 while Auth, Burke, Graham, Myers and Waugman all had two hits each. Auth, Burke, Dayton and Dulay scored twice.
Freshman pitcher
Austin Wacker (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) allowed one earned run in six innings. He struck out four and walked one, improving to 4-4 on the season. Senior

Grove City will host Westminster in a single conference game Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Saturday's game at Jack Behringer Field will conclude the teams' regular season series.
