Box Score GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College football team opened its Presidents' Athletic Conference schedule Saturday night with a 55-0 setback against visiting Case Western Reserve in the annual night game at Robert E. Thorn Field.
Case Western Reserve led 21-0 at halftime and then broke open the game with 20 points in the third quarter.Â

Quinton Reed (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) paced the Grove City defense with eight total tackles, a half sack and a blocked field goal. Senior defensive end

Connor Lowe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) split a sack.

Connor Shoemaker (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) both intercepted passes for the Wolverines. Junior safety

Offensively, freshman running back
Wesley Schools (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) led Grove City with 71 rushing yards on 13 carries. Freshman quarterback
Brett Laffoon (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) threw for 74 yards on 11-of-34 passing. Senior wide receiver
Brett Pinson (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) had four catches for 21 yards.Â
Case Western Reserve quarterback Rob Cuda completed 24 of 42 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns. Brendan Lynch had nine catches for 222 yards and three scores.Â
The game featured a 30-minute lightning delay in the first half and then an extended lightning delay at halftime. The game began at 7 p.m. and finished at 11 p.m.
Grove City will visit conference foe Saint Vincent next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Latrobe, Pa.
