Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College football team opened its 2016 road schedule Saturday afternoon by dropping a 65-13 decision to host Washington & Jefferson in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Kickoff Classic at Cameron Stadium.
Freshman running back
Wesley Schools (Sparrowbush, N.Y./Port Jervis) ran for a career-high 104 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in his first collegiate start while freshman wide receiver
Nick Ponikvar (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) caught a team-high five passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.Â

Brett Laffoon (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) completed 11 of 22 passes for 115 yards while senior quarterback
Caleb Jakiel (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) went 4 of 10 for 42 yards.
Defensively, junior linebacker
Deion Minor (Sykesville, Md./Century) recorded a Grove City-best 10 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Freshman cornerback
Jacob Ross (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) intercepted a pass while senior end
Dan Dorman (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) recovered a fumble. Junior end
Caleb Allen (La Grange, Ky./Oldham County) also recorded a sack.
For W&J, quarterback Pete Coughlin completed 12 of 16 passes for 337 yards and seven touchdowns. Jesse Zubik caught seven passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns. W&J outgained Grove City, 630-234. The Presidents (2-0) led 30-13 after the first quarter, then extended the lead to 58-13 by halftime.
While Saturday's game pitted two conference opponents, it does not count in the conference standings for either team due to the league's unbalanced eight-game schedule for the 11 member teams. Grove City opens the league schedule next Saturday night at 7 p.m. against visiting Case Western Reserve.Â
