Shea Prins

Shea Prins enters her second season as Grove City College head women's tennis coach. Prins worked as Grove City's interim head coach during the fall 2024 season before being appointed as head coach at the conclusion of the fall semester. 

Prins guided Grove City to a 10-3 record during the fall 2024 season, including a 7-1 mark in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Seven Grove City players earned All-PAC recognition following the season. 

Prins spent the 2023-24 as assistant women's tennis coach at the College. Grove City won the conference title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Wolverines finished 14-6 overall. 

A four-year letterwinner at Georgia Southern University from 2006 to 2009, Prins brings her valuable experience both as a player and a coach to Grove City College. Throughout the years, she has been a United States Tennis Association (USTA) certified tennis professional who has coached a wide range of players in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Regionally, her experience includes working with elite tennis players at the Oxford Athletic in Wexford, Pa., and Lakeview Athletic Club in Valencia, Pa.

She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Georgia Southern in 2009. In 2010, she completed her master of education degree at Georgia Southern. She earned placement on the Southern Conference All-Academic Team status during her playing career at Georgia Southern.

Prins lives in Grove City with her husband, Dr. Philip Prins, who is the chair of Grove City College's Department Exercise Science Department. They have three sons, Philip, 13, Isaac, 9, and Michael, 4.
