The 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kristen Hughes Cramer recently completed her 11th season as Grove City's head softball coach. In 2025, Cramer guided the Wolverines to the conference's regular season title, a berth in the conference tournament title game and a program-record 26 victories.
Grove City went 15-5 in conference play, earning the top spot in the league. Seven players earned All-PAC recognition, including First Team selections Brooke Brodie and Evelyn Montone.
The 2024 Wolverines set a program record by winning 25 games and capturing a pair of wins at the season-ending Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament.
Freshman pitcher Abigail Meadors set a single-season program record by striking out 134 batters while junior second baseman Maci Linhart tied her own school record with 40 runs scored. They both earned First Team All-PAC, as did senior catcher Lauren Harris and Montone.
Grove City set its previous win record in 2023 by winning 21 games, including a program-best 13 conference games. Grove City qualified for the conference tournament for the third straight season.
Senior pitcher/first baseman Janessa Dawson set a program record with 60 hits during the 2023 season while Linhart scored a Grove City-record 40 runs.
Grove City has won 72 games over the last three seasons under Cramer's guidance.
The 2022 Wolverines won 17 games and set the previous program record with 10 conference wins. Hannah Dietz belted a program-record eight home runs during the 2022 season and concluded her career with a program-record 14 homers.
In her first season as head coach, 2015, Cramer guided the Wolverines to a 16-13 overall record, which marked the program's best record in a decade. Shortstop Kelsey Shirey became the first Grove City softball player to earn Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors.
The 2019 Wolverines remained in contention for the conference tournament until the final game of the season. Five players earned All-PAC honors, including junior catcher Liz Scherer, who became a three-time All-PAC honoree.
The College named Cramer as head coach in July 2014 after she had spent five seasons as the Wolverines' assistant coach. As assistant coach, Cramer worked with multiple aspects of the program, including outfield development, hitting instruction and defensive positioning.
She earned four letters at Grove City from 2005 to 2008 while playing both in the infield and the outfield. She started 97 career games for the Wolverines and led the team in hitting as a junior with a .378 average.
Cramer also led the team in runs, total bases and on-base percentage during that 2007 season, earning Second Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors for her efforts.
She earned Dean's List honors and also landed on the PAC Academic honor roll during her career. Cramer graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Spanish in 2008 and completed her master's degree in sports management at nearby Slippery Rock University in 2009. She also added a master's degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania in May 2017.
Cramer also worked as an assistant professor of exercise science and spent five seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach at the College.
She lives with her husband, Mike, in their native Grove City.
