Derrick Baney enters his 11th season as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Grove City College. The College promoted him to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2019 season.

Baney has played a major role in Grove City's return to prominence on the NCAA Division III landscape.

In 2023, Grove City captured the Presidents' Athletic Conference title with a 10-0 record, earning the program's first-ever NCAA Division III playoff berth. The Wolverines advanced to the second round of the postseason and finished No. 10 in the D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) polls.

Guard Vinny LePre earned consensus All-America honors while center Brady Brungard earned D3football.com All-Region.

In 2024, the Wolverines repeated as conference champions and returned to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Brungard again earned D3football.com All-Region distinction. The Wolverines led the conference in rushing offense, rushing touchdowns and fewest sacks allowed (6).

In 2022, LePre earned AFCA All-America honors, along with D3football.com All-Region. Grove City led the Presidents' Athletic Conference in scoring offense, total offense and rushing offense while going 8-3 and winning the ECAC James Lynah Bowl.

In 2018, the offensive line powered one of the region’s most balanced and productive offensive attacks. Tackle Sal Spinosa earned First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference honors while tackle Dalton Callihan captured Second Team All-PAC. Those men helped clear the way for the conference’s leading rusher, Wesley Schools.

In 2019, Grove City led the PAC in total offense, yards per carry and third down conversions. The offensive line allowed only nine sacks in 11 games while also clearing the way for PAC Player of the Year and consensus All-American Schools.

Grove City finished 9-2 overall, tying the single-season program record for victories. The Wolverines won the ECAC James Lynah Bowl for the second straight year. The 2018 team (8-3 overall) recorded the program's first-ever postseason win by defeating Morrisville State in the James Lynah Bowl.

Baney joined the Grove City staff prior to the 2015 season. In 2016, he became the program’s recruiting coordinator.

Baney started at offensive tackle for Presidents’ Athletic Conference rival Geneva from 2011 to 2013 and earned All-America honors from the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) in each of his final two seasons.

A native of Milton, Pa., Baney also played with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Professional Indoor Football League.

Baney graduated from Geneva in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in business.
