Summer Hill-Jones is in her second season as a member of the Grove City College cross country/track and field coaching staffs.
The 2019-20 season marks her first year as coordinator of distance running for the cross country and track and field programs. In that role, Hill-Jones develops and implements the training and racing protocol for Grove City's distance runners in both sports.Â
In fall 2019, senior cross country standout Heidi Hoffman earned All-Mideast Region honors, as well as First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors. Nine Grove City runners placed in the top 35 at the conference championships on the women's side.Â
On the men's side, sophomore Jeffery Eide captured First Team All-PAC honors in cross country.
Hill-Jones also helped guide the Grove City indoor track and field teams to a pair of runner-up finishes at the 2020 conference championships, held at Youngstown State.Â
In 2018, the Grove City women's cross country team earned second at the conference championships, then finished as the top league team at the Mideast Championships.
A native of Honesdale, Pa., Hill-Jones earned four letters in both track and cross country at NCAA Division II powerhouse California (Pa.). She earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors three times during her career. As a senior, she took third overall at the Division II Atlantic Region Championships, helping the Vulcans earn their second straight trip to the national championships as a team.
She also earned First Team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors in both sports throughout her career.Â
Hill-Jones completed her bachelor's degree in sport management and her master's degree in exercise science and health promotion at California.Â
