A 2018 Grove City College graduate, Brett McBride returned to campus in September 2020 as assistant cross country/track and field coach.

In spring 2023, the Grove City men's track and field team won the Presidents' Athletic Conference outdoor title and the women's team earned third at the conference meet.

Two dozen Grove City athletes qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships in May 2023, capping a season filled with record-setting performances in both men's and women's outdoor track and field.

Grove City's women's team set eight school records at the 2023 indoor conference championships, earning second place overall. The Wolverines won the indoor conference title in 2022.

McBride earned four letters as a multi-event competitor in both indoor and outdoor track for Grove City from 2014 to 2018. He co-captained the team during his senior season. As a freshman, McBride helped Grove City to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference outdoor championship.

McBride began his coaching career at his high school alma mater, Hickory High School, in nearby Hermitage, Pa., in summer 2018. He worked as an assistant coach with the cross country program, then also coached the track team’s distance runners and javelin throwers.
McBride has worked as a substitute teacher in the Hermitage School District since 2019.

He graduated from the College with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies in May 2018. He also minored in Biblical and religious studies, as well as psychology. He is a deacon and youth group leader at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon.

McBride is currently pursuing his master’s degree in exercise science at California University of Pennsylvania.
