ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Sophomore Emily Burling (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) won the individual title at the Mount Union Invitational as the Grove City College women's golf team placed second out of eight teams at the Labor Day Weekend event. Grove City finished with a program-record 333 team score and finished one stroke behind host Mount Union at the tournament, held at Tannehauf Golf Club.

Burling shot a 74 while posting a five-stroke margin of victory over Malone's Annie Johnston and Ursuline's Richtier Hanslkie. 

Senior Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) tied for fifth by shooting an 82 while sophomore Mackenzie Boley (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) placed 14th with an 86. 

Junior Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished in 21st with a 91 and classmate Gabby Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) rounded out the lineup with a 93. Kinneer tied for 24th.

Junior Alyssa Shaw (Carlisle, Pa./West Shore Christian) competed as an individual and finished 42nd with a 113.

Division II Ursuline University finished third with a 336. The tournament featured eight teams and 44 golfers.

Grove City returns to action next weekend at the Penn State Altoona Toftrees Invitational.
