STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's golf team placed fourth Saturday afternoon at the seven-team Franciscan Invitational, held at Steubenville Country Club. Grove City finished the tournament with a team score of 385. Washington & Jefferson won the event with a 331 team score.
Junior
Lauren Kardos (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) shot 83 to take third place overall in the field of 38 golfers. Sophomore
Sydney Goettel (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) took 18th with a 93 while classmate
Gabrielle Kinneer (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) placed 21st with a 100.
Freshman
Mackenzie Boley (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) took 26th with a 104. Senior
Rebekah Gaehring (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) rounded out Grove CIty's lineup with a round of 114. She placed 33rd.
Geneva's Madison Sharek and W&J's MacKenzie Schmeltz tied for first as each player posted an 80.
The Wolverines return to action Monday, October 6 when they host their annual Fall Invitational at Grove City Country Club.
