Tammy Fritz will be entering her 18th season as the diving coach at Grove City College. Grove City's diving corps routinely ranks among the region's elite under Fritz's guidance.Â
Grove City's women's divers have rewritten the record books, as Fritz guided 2016 graduate Carolyn Eckendorf to three consecutive NCAA Regional Diving Championship appearances and 2017 graduate Grace Klimek to regional selections in both 2015 and 2017.
Eckendorf graduated with both Grove City records (six-dive and 11-dive) on the 3-meter board while Klimek owns the records for both lists on the 1-meter board.
In 2010, diver Kyle Grubbs provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships while setting a new school record in 1-meter diving. He earned the Presidents' Athletic Conference's Most Valuable Diver award for the 2009-10 season.
In 2007, Fritz helped junior Joe Riddell provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships. Riddell and Grubbs placed 1-2 in the PAC Championships in 2007-08.
Prior to joining the Grove City staff, Fritz worked as the diving coach at Chartiers Valley High School in Bridgeville, Pa. for two seasons. Fritz also has 14 years of experience coaching gymnastics at various age levels.Â
Fritz is in her 16th year as an English teacher at Grove City High School. She also taught English for eight years at Chartiers Valley. Fritz graduated from Washington & Jefferson in 1992. In July 2002, she completed her master's degree in education from Duquesne University.Â
She lives in Slippery Rock with her husband, Dave, daughters Emily and Mary, and sons Hayden and Harrison.
